Heron Innovators, Inc. has gained an excellent reputation for its client support services. This support begins with an initial meeting with plant operators and managers to understand the existing plant operations and treatment objectives. Working as a team with plant staff, Heron Innovators’ representatives can recommend modifications to the existing water treatment process and skimmed solids handling to meet or exceed treatment objectives. In addition to SAF® flotation of solids, Heron Innovators’ representatives are prepared to assist with water conditioning requirements such as coagulation, flocculation, and pH adjustment.
Following this initial planning, Heron Innovators conducts bench-scale testing to demonstrate the efficacy of the SAF® system to meet treatment objectives using jar tests. Based on the analytical results of the jar tests, projections are made on process performance, polymer and flocculent dosing rates, and operating costs. Heron Innovators offers a full-scale pilot test to verify the projected results. A trailer-mounted SAF® system equipped to handle flow rates ranging from 40 to 300 gpm with complete pH control, polymer dosing & aging, and a floatation tank is available for customers to lease. This pilot testing capability allows customers to know that what they are buying will perform as predicted before they commit to a purchase. This capability is unique to Heron Innovators and highlights our commitment to superior customer service.

How Did It All Begin?
Suspended Air® Flotation (SAF®)’s first installations were in the food processing industry since the company was located in California’s agricultural Central Valley. Installations have expanded to other industries, and across the U.S., previously using the traditional dissolved air flotation (DAF) approach. The SAF® process is applied anywhere physical/chemical separation via flotation is a viable solution to water quality.
